NEW PUBLICATIONS:

Dear friends of medieval/traditional astrology,

I have been happy to hear so many of you pleased with my recent translation work. I think it will prove invaluable for our revival and recovery of traditional astrology. Recently I have released Works of Sahl & Masha'allah, which will be mailed out in July 2008. I am already at work preparing my next volume for publication next year:

Revolutions and Nativities. This work will feature approximately 7-8 works on solar revolutions (both personal and mundane) and nativities, all from Persian and Arab medieval masters. Some of the works will be translated for the first time; others will be new translations of currently-existing ones, and will improve our understanding of traditional nativities.

In addition, I have several other translation projects in store, but due to various negotiations I cannot go into detail here.

It is indeed a great time to be a traditional astrologer, and I hope you all will be part of the ongoing work to revive our authentic, traditional techniques, enriching the practice of astrology.

Sincerely,
Dr. Benjamin Dykes

2008 MIDWESTERN TRADITIONAL ASTROLOGY SEMINAR

Last year I conceived of developing a "Midwestern" traditional astrology seminar in Minneapolis, Minnesota (northern central USA). It would include several lectures and workshops by traditional astrologers. Due to numerous conferences being offered this year (e.g., UAC, the Blast), not to mention the price of gasoline, I have decided that if this project goes forward it will be conducted either as a live web-seminar (webinar) or as a series of pre-recorded sessions on DVD, or both. This will allow us to reach as many people as possible, and you won't have to feel left out if you can't make it in person! Details to be announced.

SEPTEMBER 18, 2008: THE BLAST ASTROLOGY CONFERENCE

On September 18, I will be lecturing at the Blast Astrology Conference in Sedona, Arizona, as part of the medieval track. The central topic for the day is the traditional use of dignities, and speakers include Deb Houlding, Robert Hand, Maria Mateus, Samuel Reynolds, and Meira Epstein. My own talk will be on detriments and descensions (falls).

SEPTEMBER 19-21, 2008: THE ASTROLOGICAL ASSOCIATION OF BRITAIN

On September 19-21, I will be lecturing at the Astrological Association of Britain's 50-year anniversary conference in Staverton Park, Northamptonshire, England. At a plenary session, I will draw on recent translations to explain and illustrate key metaphysical and theological ideas in the development of horary practice and nativities in medieval astrology. Client charts will be used to illustrate the talk, helping attendees understand how to apply them in practice. At a workshop entitled "Medieval nativities: techniques and translations," I will present a number of medieval delineation and predictive techniques and concepts based on authentic sources, including recently translated works of Persian, Jewish, and Latin authorities. I will also underscore the heritage and development of the Hellenistic legacy in medieval practice.

Other speakers includes Lynn Bell, Bernadette Brady, Geoffrey Cornelius, Darby Costello, Robert Currey, Martin Davis, Ben Dykes, John Etherington, Sasha Fenton, Liz Greene, John Green, Mike Harding, Michael Lutin, Chris Mitchell, Alan Oken, Lindsay Radermacher, Luis Ribeiro with Helena Avelar, Komilla Sutton, Sue Tompkins and many more! A live video link with The Blast conference is being planned, and Rob Hand and others will be address both conferences on the Friday evening.

OCTOBER 25-26, 2008: THE ASTROLOGICAL LODGE OF LONDON

In October I will be speaking at the ALL's history of astrology conference. On the 25th, I will speak on "What is New in Traditional Astrology?" On the 26th, I will speak on "Whole-Sign and Quadrant Houses: an Update."
